Biography
Obhee is a Performance Practitioner-Researcher based in surreal dwelling spaces in their head while also travelling between London and India. For most of their adult life, they have been part of Queer Feminist movement in India. The lives of people falling under the interstices of multiple marginalities are at the heart of all their artistic endeavours.
They studied Comparative Literature and Performance Studies before confidently settling on Performance Making. They perform, host, and produce Drag and Cabaret nights with their queer friends, whom they loosely refer to as their community in London. They wish they could spend more time with experimental jazz music and slam poetry from the contemporary scene.
They fantasise about experimental research methods when not chasing deadlines. Auto-ethnography, performance as research, embodied research, memory, and living archive are some of their poisons. They would like to explore performance methodologies further in case writing ever becomes less daunting for them or the academy agrees on alternative modes of dissemination.
They are captivated by the domestic and the classroom as places of endless solidarities and contestations. Their delight in mischievous antics in both spaces brings them great joy! They believed that Contemporary Art was not really their thing. Then, well…
