The third and final event of the pilot series of the Dawn Chorus call & response Ridge Salons drew to a close. On 11 July 2025, the Salonistes feasted in the setting sun, in a small but perfectly formed gathering. Once again the responses brought to the table were inspiring, nourishing and creative, revealing the perpetually astonishing connections us humans have with birds. We were treated to human-bird hybrids (via avian drag, Aristophanes and sacred indigenous feathered cloaks); wings/arms, mouth/beak, talons/hands, softness/feathers scores to explore queer listening; an appearance of a feathered forest nymph guiding us to craft bird nests in complete silence yet bathed in the scent of the herbaceous building materials; and a reminder of and the thinking through of the mischievous in us and birds. Thank you Abhisikta (Obhee) Dasgupta, Victoria Karlsson, Alex Mermikides and Carin Thuresson for a such a delightful evening of wonder and magic.
